With just over 3 weeks until our garden is unveiled at the 2014 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, the excitement at Ian Barker Gardens is starting to build!
This year’s design explores the idea of left over spaces in our urban environments and how they can be transformed into thriving green pockets for people to come together in, socialize and enjoy nature.
The garden will also highlight the pop up culture that has become increasingly popular in recent times, by featuring a converted shipping container as the main component of the garden. The shipping container will function as a working cafe, complete with a coffee machine and our very own barista!
Work on the shipping container/cafe is well and truly underway thanks to Dean Graham from Exclusive Landscapes (based on the Mornington Peninsula), who we can’t thank enough for his hard work! The team are all very excited by the progress of the container and look forward to seeing the finished product in a few weeks time!
Stay tuned for a MIFGS plant update in the next couple of weeks and the release of our design brief, where you can read all about the key ideas behind the design of our garden.
